EE Train the Trainer

The Empowerment Education Training Initiative is a statewide training project that provides free training for Michigan Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) on various topics important for providing persons with disabilities the best care and support possible. DSPs include anyone who provides care or services for individuals with disabilities.  DSPs are also known as direct care workers or staff, paraprofessionals, aides, etc. Empowerment Education trainers reside around the state and provide training in their communities.

We are in need of new trainers in the West Michigan area! We will be hosting a one day Train-the-Trainer event on Thursday, July 19th, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hampton Inn Cadillac (650 S Mitchell St, Cadillac, MI 49601).

The Train-the-Trainer event is designed to prepare new trainers to go out and provide Empowerment Education training in their communities.  If you are a current or former DSP, a person with disabilities, or a family member, and you are interested in becoming a trainer, please click on the links below to learn more, complete the registration form, and return it to Project Coordinator, Emily Milligan-Thompson, by Tuesday, June, 19th at 5:00pm. You may Fax (313-577-3770) or email (emily.milligan@wayne.edu) your application to Emily before this time. Space is VERY limited for this annual event. Lunch will be provided.
