Great Lakes LEND Collaborative (GLLC)

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) held its 2019 Annual Conference November 17-20, 2019 in Washington D.C. The conference is an opportunity for University Centers (UCEDDs) and other AUCD programs (LENDs, IDDRCs) to come together to share promising and best practices in work being done to ensure all individuals with disabilities are able to live independent lives, fully included in their communities.

MI-DDI sent a group of seven people to the 2019 conference. The group led panels and gave presentations on topics that included:

  • National Core Indicators (NCI) Project work being done in Michigan
  • The impact of transportation on the lives of individuals with disabilities
  • Promoting equity and diversity through interdisciplinary leadership training
  • Michigan's Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) project outcomes
  • Disability rights, ethics, and genetics
  • International outreach and collaboration for greater inclusion
  • Creating access to health promotion programs for people with I/DD

    The 2019 AUCD Conference saw the largest attendance in the history of the conference with an estimated 1200 attendees from around the country.
